Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Symptoms

  • Fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, malaise. Very similar to Influenza.
  • May appear 1-14 days after contact with an infected person

 

How it spreads

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. People are most contagious when they are the sickest.

 

Prevention

  • Avoid contact with people who are sick
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Cover your cough/sneeze. Use tissue, then throw away
  • Clean objects and surfaces that are frequently touched
  • Wear a facemask if you have flu-like symptoms and have to be in public
  • Wash your hands frequently (at least 20 seconds), hand sanitizers should have 60% alcohol

 

What to do if you are sick

  • Stay home except to get medical care
  • Avoid public areas/places
